Problem Note 39049: Identity value substitutions might return an error in the Build Formula window
In some cases, using identity values in a permission condition results in an error.
Here is an example expression that uses the identity value SAS.PersonName
.
{[Organization].[All Organization],
[Organization].[All Organization].[SUB::SAS.PersonName]}
This expression resolves to the following:
{[Organization].[All Organization],
[Organization].[All Organization].[joeuser]}
Although this is a valid use of the identity value, the expression causes an error in the Build Formula window. Regardless of the error, you can still save the MDX expression and make use of it.
Note: The error message returned in SAS® 9.3 has been updated to say the following:
The syntax for your expression cannot be validated as correct. However, some valid
expressions cannot be validated until a query is performed. If you believe this
expression is correct, you may save this expression and validate the expression with
a query. Do you want to continue and save this expression?
You are given the options Yes, No, or Cancel.
This is the expected behavior.
